More for a non-skier to do in Samoens, but the lifts down are a big turn-off for the skiers. I'd plump for Les Carroz - much more going on than Morillon, ski-back guaranteed, fast road access to Flaine if links closed.

My recommendation would be Samoens for the Non-skier, plenty to do, nice village, the one downside is the lift up is outside the village.
Plenty of shops, bars and restaurants...... nice place

My first ever ski trip abroad was to Les Carroz and I would highly recommend it. We got the free ski bus up to the gondola from outside our apartment, which gave us access to the whole Grand Massif ski area. The skiing was fantastic, we skied right over to Flaine and up to see Mont Blanc. The village is lovely and has a lot of character, with great restaurants, pubs, bakeries and a couple of good supermarkets if you are going self-catering.

In my opinion, Les Carroz is the ideal base for exploring the whole of the Grand Massif.

We like morillon les esserts as it's ski in ski out. The problem we had with samoens was it was a drive to the lift. Great skiing in both resorts tho :-)

I'd suggest Les Carroz. Non skier can get up the mountain, pretty village, easy to ski back to resort to meet up.

Samoens is perfect for a non skier and we've never found having to get the gondola up to the slopes a problem either.
It's more than a village really with lovely shops and a botanic garden that's set into the hillside with a tiny church at the top.
It has a lake and a skating rink and if you have a car it's no problem to get to Geneva or Chamonix for a day out.

Hi Andy

I've stayed in Samoens and Morillon. With Sameons you have a 10 minute lift upto or down and you'll need to be careful where in the resort as the lift is outside the centre of the town. If you go for Morillon 1100 it's ski to door so easy and the links to the other area's arn't bad but it's a small traditional french ski resort so not much to do, I've not stayed at Carroz so can't comment.

As a curve ball what about Les Gets? slightly larger and the chance to ski to door + linked to Morzine etc and not much further than Sameons etc
