Agreed.

We got bumped to Barcelona from Toulouse because the french wouldn't clear the access roads.

Totaly agree,

The spanish side (should I say catalan side?) is a far more easy access to Andorra than the french side. It's about the roads, not the country (of course). Coming up from spain leads you to "Encamp", the town known for the "Funicamp" lift that brings you on top of the mountain, in between "El tarter" and "Grau roig" sectors of GrandValira. Highly reccomendable.
