Hotel Royal Ours Blanc Alpe d'Huez

I loved La Plagne. I am considering dumping Les Arcs this new year (as crystal are totally messing me about AGAIN) and returning there.
Snapzzz, we also enjoyed skiing La Plagne last year but on balance I think we preferred Les Arcs. The biggest issue for us were the queues and crowded slopes in La Plagne. In the end we only spent one day there but maybe we were just unlucky? I recall queuing for 30 minutes to get out of Plagne Bellecote which properly wound me up. Because of this we didn't make it across to Aime La Plagne and the slopes on that side of the resort. We were there from about 7th to 14th March.
I agree with BB on the queuing in La Plagne.
Too many runs come back down into the resorts and lead to bottlenecks.
Les Arcs has a much better thought out lift system - hence fewer queues.

I agree with this view. I much prefer the shaping of the Les Arcs pistes. The resort seems to manage volumes better (excluding half term at the bottom of the Transarc)
I didn't much like either, to be honest. Very concrete and faked. Prefer something that has evolved. But thats my opinion....
I can see my house from here...

The Les Arcs system has at least 1 genuine rural village tucked away with direct lift access. I remember heading for the lift one day and seeing a recently slaughtered cow hanging up to drip from a beam. It was steaming a bit.....
VillaRoger!
Just got back from Alpe d'Huez. No comments about the rooms/prices but location and Alpe d'Huez is great. Been there 2 times for skiing and many times for cylcing.
