J2Ski group holiday to Tignes January 13th 2013

Was definitely interest in going but as i only return from france on the 5th Jan its just not possible.
Ally, can i ask you why you chose Les Brévières and not Tignes proper?

We're staying with Ski Bonjour in Val d'Isere (their Bivouac chalet) from 30th Dec to 6th Jan 13. Shame the dates don't quite tie up.

We've done the blue down to Tignes Les Brevieres. Quite an easy run. The Sache black run on my list for next time.

I suppose I picked Les Brévières for the group holiday for the same reason I picked Courchevel 1550 instead of 1850 for my own family holiday.

In both cases the lower villages of the main resorts are much cheaper and quieter, whilst still very well connected to the main ski area.

I didn't want to make the J2Ski holiday too expensive, and yet I wanted to find a quality chalet.

Les Brévières is a charming, traditional, Savoyard village. It has enough facilities to be self-contained, with shops, restaurants, bars, post office, ski school, lift pass office, and ski hire readily available in the chalet itself.

And, as you can see from the piste map, it has its own beginner area with free drag lift and a lovely blue back down through the trees to the village (as well as the more challenging red and black runs). So I felt it would be suitable for beginners, intermediates, and advanced skiers.

I had also heard very good things about the Bonjour company, and I wanted a chalet large enough so that if plenty of J2Skiers decided to come there would be room for them. So I picked their largest chalet, Bonjour-Bonjour, which is very close to the piste and to the centre of the village.

We returned again this year due to 2 factors, the standard of accommodation and service we had previously experiences and from that my daughter being offered a position in Bonjour Bonjour.
I second my review that I made in 2010 that nothing is to much trouble for the staff you are always made to feel welcome and by the end of the week you have become a part of the large chalet family mixing with people from all over the UK and further afield sharing stories about everyone's day on the slopes. We took a total beginner with us and booked her into 3 private lessons with the local ski school (cost about the same as doing 5 half days in a group) the progress was fantastic the nice thing was the interest on her progress by everyone when we all got together later.
The food prepared by Dave and Laura was fantastic and in my opinion better than the last time, my husband who has a wheat allergy was more than catered for giving us total peace of mind that his food was safe.
Its a good touch that Rob has managed to arrange a good deal on the quad bikes and buggies we had such a laugh on Friday night racing each other on ice.
If you want a day off then try the Lagoon in Tignes le lac - swimming 5 euros or free with a 2 day lift pass.
There were 8 of us ranging in age from 20 -64 the four younger members have said it was their best ski holiday they have had in the 8 years we have been going. Would we return - without a doubt son is already going back in 5 weeks and were already looking at next year.

I'm very sorry Snapzzz and Bedrock Barney that the date I eventually chose didn't suit you. As you know, I did my best to find the most suitable date and resort to suit the maximum number of J2Skiers.

I'm hoping this holiday will be a great success and then perhaps we can do it again the following year. We will all have plenty of time then to get our dates and resorts sorted

The Bonjour-Bonjour was already booked for the first 2 weeks in January when I phoned them. So I only had a choice of the 13th or 20th, and no-one seemed to mind which date I picked, so I went for the 13th, hoping it might be slightly quieter than the 20th.

I think I will start with the blue run back down to the village, then the red, and finally when I am feeling quite confident I will tackle the black

I'm with you on that one Ally. Nice blue to warm up, then the red, not sure about the black but will take a look.
