I hope you managed to enjoy yourself a bit in spite of the trouble with your knee and the fact that you don't like Austria.

Ally, I had a great time and thats mainly comes down to the company we were with, I can't remember any Austrians enhancing my experience

Well, next year Ian, persuade Tony and his gang to go to France and then you can have the great food etc. AND the fantastic company you enjoy

I find Austrian people to be extremely efficient and hard working but not the most friendly. The exception to this is ski instructors so I think it'd be fair to blame it on the fact that they're always rushed off their feet.

people who think they know everything are a great annoyance to those of us who do

This is in danger of turning into a France versus Austria debate, no thanks to Ally's input on this

Next year, Ally, I will plan a trip to whichever resort covers all the requirements for the selected group, whoever they may be, irrespective of which country it is in. We do not select a country to visit and then pick a resort FYI.

I have also found the vast majority of Austrian people to be friendly, cheerful and chatty people. I cannot say the same about the moody and arrogant (generalisation) French, but thats for another debate elsewhere.

Precisely my point. They did nothing, the majority of them anyway, to enhance the experience and THEY were English.

Personally I don't go looking for local people to enhance my visit. I am quite capable of managing that myself with the skiing and all thats involved in a trip to a ski resort, hence the careful selection over where to go and stay.

I knew you and I would probably have differing views on this, as you have always been so pro-France, and despite me having previously had something of an anti France philosophy, I have visited France quite a lot in recent years and had relatively little issue with the resorts I've been to in the main.
