If you look at the google terrain style map, you can clearly see why there is no skiing out of Wengen itself.

We stayed in Wengen for 3 weeks, so much snow it was incredible. I really loved Grindelwald its a magical place. The runs were so long up to 15k, we would ski from morning till dusk.
