My husband decided to pour a tray full of hot fat on his foot at the weekend.
There goes my chance of another ski trip this season.

How selfish.
Edited to add selfish of him!
My thoughts exactly :(
Felthorpe ......
I really must disagree you are just simply being defeatist.
A little setback should not put you off your next ski trip this season.
This is what you do ....
This evening - preparation.
Ask how long hubby thinks the wound will take to heal, when will he be fully mobile?
You then need to say how disapointed you are - you had booked a surprise ski trip for the two of you ....
On - a few days before he thinks he will be mobile - and that the insurance say you can't get a full refund.
So ...
You really must go ahead with the trip otherwise it is just money down the drain..
Obviously you will be heartbroken at missing a trip with him - blah blah blah etc etc etc
Job done
Well considering i injured it xmas week i think i have done ok.
It was just the fact that it was refusing to heal that made me seek proper advice. My dad had to have a joint replacement in his finger not so long back and it looks a mess.
Even though i knew there would be nothing they could do i'd rather be told that now than risk damaging it further.
Anyhow, the joint is just all banged up, they said only time will possibly heal it but it could be a year before it feels normal.
I can't see him falling for that one. I could just go on my own? :?:
Well that was the whole point of my complex, convoluted and complicated scenario.
But if you can get away with just going - go for it
