Tino I am pleased to report that it is snowing in Portillo and that the Santiago/Mendoza pass was shut today (causing much frustration for those in my hostel this morning who got up early to get the bus to Santiago).

There is definitely snow up there as I crossed over the pass on Monday but it definitely needs a few good dumps to make perfect conditions....

I will try to post a picture of the pass in the next few days for you its pretty and very impressive!!

Cheers Brim!!

Been following the reports religiously, and there seems to have been a few flurries, but as none of the resorts are reporting yet, it is difficult to tell what the actual state is up there! Portillo officially opens on the 22nd I think, then it will be easier to track whats going on.

You gonna make it up for some skiing?

Looks like you were spot on Brimster, needs a few flurries more (or a big dump), but with 15 days to go I am excited.

I met someone who came up from Mendoza yesterday as the road pass is still shut and they are saying that it is going to stay shut until at least Monday!!

Fingers crossed for you Tino.... Looks like I;m not going to get any skiing in until the beginning of August due to the lack of snow I have had to keep moving north so head into Bolivia later today!

Ouch... hope you're being well looked after! "get well soon" sounds a bit inadequate for that but, er, get well soon... on the plus side you should be fit for the Euro ski season.
