as the title says is there much of a difference in learning to board, i wouldn't mind having a go but wondered how much of a difference there is to ski-ing

My knees woud not handle boarding
is it bad on the knees? i have a bit of a didgy right knee, its okay as long as i dont do anything too daft, i did a black run first day at xmas, thought it was blue, vy the time i go to thw red i was crying, so as long as i keep to my limit i am okay.
I would stick a tenner on the fact you are at more risk of sustaining a knee injury through skiing than snowboarding.

Have a go, take a lesson.

If you check um out they seem to spend a lot of time on the bottom
I don't think it is any trouble for your knees unless you fall on them a lot. If you give it a try don't be expecting an easy time of it. The one thing in common with skiing is: put it on edge, and it will turn. Theoretically, anyway. I think it is pretty much universal that everyone will crash and burn the first few times they do it. If you don't understand the basic principles - a lesson is probably a good idea. Oh, and get some wrist braces! Something like 95% of all snowboard injuries are related to the wrists.
I bet you 95% of ski injuries are knee related too, I am not going to buy knee braces

I would not want the rigidity of braces in my wrists and they can actually do some damage depending on how you fall.

I learned to snowboard, just turned up in all my skiing gear and went for it. Good fun!
thanks sticking to skis this year but got 2 weeks to fill up at xmas so i thought i might have a go at the learn to board see if i like it, my lad does both and he prefers boarding now,
