One of the problems with trying to plan this is that in some ways the date is tied up with the resort - as in it's no good thinking of a low resort in December or the second half of March (or April!).

There was a guy in my chalet in Les Boisses a couple of weeks ago who belongs to the 'other lot' Snow..... and he said they went to Val Thorens at the end of April for their group holiday and they usually have 100 people who go

So I guess that means they go for the cheap budget option because they stay in self-catering apartments in VT.

But when I did that survey the people on here who responded didn't seem that keen on s/c and they wanted a more expensive/quality sort of holiday.

The guys on SH *cough* book out an entire hotel or two Ally and they do have a lot of people that go. I was almost temped to join in their trip to Arraba in feb before Mrs Snapzzz signed up for Flaine. Which i am glad she did as i have been flamed a few times on SH for daring to post a silly question and they just don't seem as friendly as J2 guys

I signed up to SHeads but I always seem to find the site difficult to navigate

And how long do we let this thread run for, before adding up the total for each resort?

Well i say we have bags of time so 'a month'?
I'd ask adders to clean up the thread and head it with an invitation to suggest a destination. Possibly three per person as to give a better spread and more chance of agreement.

9 or 10 months I would say Ally

You could really spread it out.

A month or so on the destination
A month or so on a date
A month or so on accom type etc....

I'm really glad Snapzzz and Ian decided to stick to J2Ski

The trouble is, Snapzzz, no thread on here ever stays 'clean' for long

(And I should know because I'm the Wibble Queen!).

I think using this thread to collate ideas is fine, but then we need to use something like that SurveyMonkey to count the votes. But this time I'd like to find a survey where the voting isn't anonymous.

The other problem is that this is the 'quiet' period for J2Ski.
So I think, like Old Andy suggested, we'd have to let the voting run for several months, probably into next winter.

I've noticed that quite a few people book their ski holidays as soon as they get back from one, so I reckon we'd have to have the holiday for 2014 all sorted by, say, the beginning of January 2013. And then people could decide whether they wanted to come or not.

My 2 penneth, if you look to be all sorted in Jan '13 you will put out those peeps that go in Feb/March. I think the timing that you have this year is the earliest you should be looking to finalise.

I would not commit to booking anything further out than 4 months so it pretty much counts me out of everything. Next year I MIGHT be going away in March, subject to other peeps, but I bet that wont get booked until Jan '13

But everyone (mostly others) are different
