footbed?

Have just aquired some almost new salamon boots courtesy of ebay. They are a pretty good fit but need some insoles. I've looked at various websites offering various footbeds costing around 35 quid. Seems like qiute a lot of cash for what it is, can anyone recommend a particular type/brand and are they really worth buying?
Any advice appreciated...

The simplest, good quality, over the counter footbed is by Superfeet. Trim to fit. Blue or Green depending on your volume needs.

Thanks Bandit,...my boots have plenty of space so the higher volume ones would be best.

That depends on how much you value your feet. I have Superfeet footbeds in all my shoes, and the Custom moulded Full Kork version in my ski boots. Same goes for my OH, and they cost a wee bit more than £35

Saw your question and just had to reply. For what it is worth I am a qualified ski instructor, this is no big deal of course but I am just mentioning it so that you can appreciate that at the very least I am a very keen skier have have a lot of skiing experience and so perhaps it could be argued that I have some idea of what I am talking about.

Anyway, over the years I have been sold/recommended/sucked into buying special customised insoles 3 times (including Superfeet) when I have bought new ski boots. Each and every time they have felt fine in the shop but when I have skied on them they have been a nightmare and stopped the cirulation in my feet. Needless to say that each time I have gone back to the original insoles and they have been absolutely fine. Each time I promise myself I will never buy them again and this time I really mean it. My friend also had the same problem with his new ski boots so I suggested he try putting the original insole back in and he was also immediately comfortable.

It should also be remembered that shops make more money if they can also sell insoles when selling ski boots.

No doubt other other people have different experiences but if I were you I would just get ordinary bog standard insoles first and see if they are comfortable and if so then there is no need on spending more money.

Of course they make more money if they sell more services/items. If a bus company sells more tickets, they make more money..

Do you mind me asking where you have been fitted for these in the past? I had properly fitted footbeds (custom made efforts) and the difference in the boot fit was unreal (Salomon Falcon Race)

I have just found these, has anyone tried these heat mouldable ones?

Ski shops try to sell us as much as they can, and for those of us on a budget it's nice to know whether we really need these 'extras' or not.
The guy in the ski shop was trying to sell me the boots (£175) and he said that the footbeds (£37) were necessary because my feet 'needed' them!
As it happened, i went home, searched ebay, and found the same boots (used twice) which a got for £60. I'm happy with the boots but do have some issues. The
main one being that after wearing the boots around the house a bit i have discovered that they are particularly tight on the 'boney bits' sticking out on the insides of my ankles. I'm not sure how to fix this, without cutting a hole in the shell of the boots!
