And Trencher, I eat masses of fibre - brown rice, brown bread, muesli, loads of fruit and vegetables, and normally no bicuits or cakes etc. (except at Christmas - my downfall).
Back to getting fit for ski-ing - I only have 4 days left to diet and get fit

That's why I didn't go to my old school reunion. I could just imagine everyone eyeing each other up to see who was the fartiest, most stinky, unfit etc. Best of luck with the 'beauty' contest

Actually Trencher, I find as long as I eat the same sort of food all the time I don't suffer from that particular problem
However, I have a real weakness for dried apricots, and I can eat a whole bagfull at a time, and if I do that, well .... watch out
It's amazing how fast the room will empty, even it was full of people

I went to one a few years back, and loved it. Most of the blokes in my year looked about 10 years older than me, many of them had no hair, and a lot of them were well overweight.
I felt a hell of a lot better about myself.
Strangely, the women I couldnt work out. The good looking girls I remember had all turned into frumps or miseries, whereas the ones I avoided at school were the attractive chatty ones. How odd.

I go in just under 4 weeks. i have been dieting since middle of November and so far I have lost 18lbs which i am quite chuffed about. i have been losing roughly just over a pound a week, which is ok for me, but i would like to have lost more. i think i eat too many carbs but i am such a fussy eater there is not a lot out there. an example of my diet is 2 weetabix with semiskimmed milk and sweetner for breakfast, a banana for snack, lunch is 2 slices white bread with ham and low fat spray oil (made into a toastie), a packet of quavers, an activia no fat yoghurt, a banana, an orange as an afternoon snack, a kiwi just before dinner which is half tin baked beans with 3 slices white bread, or i have 4 potato waffles and half tin beans and sometimes if i am peckish i allow myself a blue ribband. i know it is not ideal but it has worked so far. (if it aint broke dont fix it? but i am willing to try any alternatives but as i say i am soooo fussy, i usually find it really hard to diet)
perhaps this year i may not look quite like a teletubby on skis! and hopefully next year when i am down to my target weight i am going to treat myself to a lovely skiing outfit. i am just hiring again this year as it seems daft buying an outfit when i am trying to lose weight. i feel a bit guilty that i havent done any excercise so i am going to try go swimming a few times a week for the next 4 weeks. well thats the plan anyway. i always leave things to the last minute!

Well done Karen, thats serious weight loss. How did you diet in order to achieve that, especially without exercise?
Do you have much more to lose, if you dont mind me asking, because if I lost 18lbs I'd be underweight. I'd like to know what you ate, or more to the point what you didn't, in order to lose that much.
