They didnt last long, did they? I can remember the news coverage not so long ago about their first transatlantic flight from Stansted.
Unfortunately, they appear to have done a Freddie Laker, and put themselves out of business as a result of cheap prices. You could have got a seat to Halifax for £89!!!!

I was wondering how many people this is going to affect for the forthcoming skiing season, and a number of tour operators put their customers on Zoom flights to Canada. Anyone who posts on here likely to be affected?

I heard that anyone who has paid for flights on a credit card will be covered, but if you buy on visa debit or switch, you are screwed. I assume that if anyone bought a package, they will be covered through ABTA or ATOL, whoever it is these days, but this is going to mean loads of prebooked Canadian skiing holidays will have to be either cancelled or customers placed on alternative flights with BA or Air Canada I guess, which I would have thought will mean a price increase?

Anyone in the industry got any ideas whats likely to happen?

Visa Debit will cover I believe-us at the Clydesdale and our Maestro cards I don't.

Sorta kicks my winter plans into touch, back to the drawing board!

up until one month ago i was booked on a flight from gatwick to montreal for my ski holiday to mont tremblant at new year with zoom but they cancelled the flight on the particular day we wanted to go so we were transfered to british airways.

As one reporter on the BBC put it, they were 'selling £10 notes for £8'.

This is bad news indeed because Monarch airlines are believed to also be suffering as a budget carrier and I've used them a few times on package holidays.

It was really sad to see the people on our (Halifax,N.S.) evening news tonight who are stuck here due to the ZOOM closure. The story told of at least 3 families from the UK who each had to spend 3 and 5 thousand pounds to get back home :!: They had already spend three thousand or more to get over here. Then last night, the plane they had been booked on was cancelled so they had another expensive night at a hotel. Even the taxi drivers wouldn't give them a break. I really feel badly for them. But look at the skyline of Dubai and see why the fuel costs are so high and where all the money has gone.
