Hi all,
I am a beginner snowboarder. We(my brother and my boyfriend) are dreaming boarding for the whole summer and even started to make holiday plans. We are from Turkey and I was thinking to make an arrangement at Pamporovo because we will drive from Istanbul and Pamporovo is the closest place. I couldn't find many details at forums about Pamporovo. As I understand Bulgaria is a popular place mainly among Brits. Is the reason Pamporovo is far from Sofia (you probably fly to Sofia) or there is something wrong with there. If you could advise me about the resorts and boarding, I would be much appreciated.
Is it a too serious paragraph :))
Thanks
Pamporovo

Nurcan, hi, welcome to the forum.
I skied in Pamporovo many years ago, and flew into Plovdiv. It was cheap and very, very basic. The instruction I received was extremely good and the hire equipment was a good quality.The ski area was fine for me at the 2-3 week stage on skis, and has been extended since then.
The food was very good, but sometimes in short supply in the restaurants.
It's become a lot more sophisticated since then, but still attracts skiers who are on a tight budget.
I'm not sure of the rules and regulations for you driving there from Turkey, you might have to ask a Motoring Organisation what you will need for the car.
Have you visited Turkey's own 8 ski resorts yet?
* Uludag
* Kartalkaya
* Ilgaz
* Erciyes
* Davraz
* Saklikent
* Palandoken
* Sarikamis

I am off to Pamporovo in Feb and although I am going half board what I read is the evening meal is not so great
Anyway wondered if anyone know what are the prices like
Looking at ski passes and equipment hire they seem to be about 25% higher in Pamporovo then elsewhere in Bulgaria
I have read that prices are high and read prices are very cheap in restaurants, shops and so on
Not much on the net
Any feedback appreciated
