Hoping to get some guidance from you guys.....

All is not well in the land of tino, so decided I'm gonna pack up my board and get on a train on Wednesday night for 3 or 4 days riding somewhere, the question is where?

I have looked at 2 options so far, one being the Hintertux and the other being Chamonix.

I am based in Karlsruhe in SW Germany so getting about isn't really the problem. I want to go somewhere with snow obviously, somewhere which is decent enough for the lonely wanderer and somewhere thats not gonna send the bank manager loopy.

Any ideas?

Erm, and I think it comes down to a choice between 'The League Against Salivating Monsters' or my own personal preference, which is 'The Committee for the Liberation and Integration of Terrifying Organisms and their Rehabilitation Into Society'. Erm, one drawback with that - the abbreviation is......

One word: Glacier.

Hintertux would be my recommendation, especially in terms of your location, although there is also Stubai to consider.

Chamonix, Zermatt, Tignes. All worth looking at I would imagine. I guess it all depends on where the snow is best and what the forecast is.

All I can say is "can I come too?"

You are more than welcome, eek out the season a little. I just need to get away for a few days, and with Germany's exceptional public holiday offering, May is a great month to do so.

Do you know if the Post Bus runs from Mayrhofen to the Tux as regulary at this time of year? just wondering where to stay accomodation-wise.

BTW, Chamonix has extended it's opening for the season. Terrific snow depths, and lots of places to stay!

Hmmm, quite fancy Chamonix, but getting there is not as easy as Austria. Anyone been to Kaprun?

Happy days, never been to the mountains alone before, looking forward to the P&Q and being able to relax. Got a couple of good books (about the mountains) to keep me company, I can't wait
