Never been here before, but got the opportunity of a last minute deal going this Sunday.
Looking at the webcams and J2ski weather, it looks like the snow is pretty damned good out there.

Anyone been recently, or can shed any light on what the ski area is like etc?

Cheers

Excellent resort, some very steep skiing and extensive range of slopes in the full area. Depending on where you stay, there can be a bit of a hike to the slopes.
Legendary apres ski in the Krazy Kangaruh, which is on the home run.

Skied in St. Anton in December 07 but stayed in Lech. Whole area is linked by pistes or very good buses free with lift pass. For a few euros you can take the less crowded yellow post bus. St. Anton is a lively resort with lots of shops, bars, etc. with just about every type of catering. It is quite spread out though but has regular ski buses. If you get sunny spring conditions, the lower resort runs get quite slushy and hard work! Worth going to Lech as it is a beautiful place and the skiing is good with a circuit called the White Ring. Also worth skiing in Zurs.

In my opinion St Anton has got to be one of the best, if not the best, ski resort in Europe! The ski area is extensive and varied (though limited for beginners but that is clearly not an issue for you Tony!). I was there a couple of years ago at Easter and it was great - a bit slushy low down later in day but still superb up higher. Even got some fresh powder!

The village is quite big but full of Tyrollian charm. Apres ski is as good as it gets - Mooserwirt a little bit up the mountain is great fun for a pint at days end.

I am madly jealous - go for it and enjoy!

You booked it yet? Just do it. Now.

St.Anton is a ski area everyone must do at least once, and many go back again and again. One of the great freeride areas on the planet - take a guide on your first time out off-piste.

Actually, with conditions as they are, you'll have great conditions on-piste much of next week!

And the Moosewirt opposite. Ski down the moguls after apres ski in the dark. Eveyone is so drunk bones dont break - we are all bendy!

Aim for the red light on the lift at the bottom - you will be fine

Life is for skiing, dont ruin or waste it!

I called the company this morning, not surprisingly the deal had been sold!

However, I took the plunge and booked for a week in Verbier on March 29th. Ridiculously cheap price, so I am taking my daughter as s surprise, as its her 21st this year.

Cant wait now.

Great resort for sure. Off the back of the Valluga (with instructor/guide) a buzz.

Still, have a great time in Verbier. Drink the 'Verbier' in the square dry (opposite Maddran lift).

Get a move on at the cable car change-over.
The second section car is smaller than the first!
