goggles or glasses

Sunglasses are good for sunny and warm days when you dont need a muffler to keep your face from freexing off... but if you wear glasses and muffler, you wont be able to see a thing!

Ive always skied with sunglasses, until recently a realllly cvold day in vail, and i couldnt see a thing with them coz they kept fogging up with my neck muffler,...

i also wear contact lenses and those started to fly out the corners of my eyes too

then i tried goggles and they were sooo much better.

So Id say glasses for sunny days, goggles for snowing or very cold days./.

If you wear a helmet (and I strongly recommend it), then Goggles all the way. They look the part with a helmet and are easy to slip onto the helmet when you take a break, and they attach to the back of the helmet so hard to lose them. Can always whip out sunglasses from a pocket too.

I have two pairs, one with a sunny day reflective lens that's very clear, and another dull day lens.

I don't rate Oakley and the like. Over price brand snobbery if you ask me (and that's considering I'm a sucker for brands!). As mentioned, the safety glass stuff is pretty much identical, just not as trendy and a fraction of the price. However your standard Scott or Bolle will do fine. Best prices in the US though. Note with Scott I believe they do free replacement lenses if you pop into a ski shop and ask. Not sure on the criteria for replacing them though.

Looking at the bollé-safety website looks like they make a shaded version of the contour. Cant for the life of me find a seller with them though.

I bought a pair of the contour esp's. Got them delivered yesterday. First impressions is I really like them but unsure how they would hold up in very sunny conditions with my eyes. They are very light, very flexible and very very comfortable. They hardly disturb your vision at all!

Might get hold of a pair of bolle axis shaded an see how they compare.

DaveW, I have sunnys which are 'designed' for sport but they're not impact resistant so I might get a pair of Bolles.

Can't break either pair, and believe me being on my head on a mountain at 9.30am with a hangover is a hell of a raod test.

The last few holidays I've worn goggles the whole time. On one run on the last trip I still had my Oakley sun glasses on from a late lunch and couldn't see a darned thing - my eyes were streaming. It's odd because I always used to ski in sun glasses. Not sure what point I'm trying to make here but there you go.
