Adding a bit more info. There are two train situations from
Munich airport, both leaving about ten past alternate hours. The EC has only one change, at Munich Ost, and the charge is €35. After the change there are only two stops before
Wörgl Hauptbahnhof. Time is 1hr 43min. The alternate train requires 2/3 changes, takes half an hour longer, and cost €30.
For my 2/3 week January trips, I hire a car. This is because a buy a season pass for a larger area, Kitzbuhel Allstar, or Tirol. That allows me to ski for a day in resorts that I would not choose to take a weeks holiday. (Eg, in January, among others, I skied all the runs in St Johann, in the one day.) The secret with car hire is to book well ahead. It is one purchase that rarely comes down in cost. By law, they now must include the cost of winter tyres in the hire price. I take out annual car hire excess insurance every year.
