according to this site the ski area is closed and only has 30cm, according to the Ski Club there are 9 out of 22 lifts open with 80cm lower and 120cm on the upper slopes. Now not wanting to diss this site but it would appear that something is not quite right Sauze is a ski club rep resort and as such the snow depths and piste conditions are updated twice daily during the week and once a day at the weekends. They are reporting light snowfall today and good conditions for skiers and boarders. I wouldn't panic just yet anyways as a lot can change between now and when you leave, at the moment I would be more concerned about the impending strikes by BAA staff that may cause flight delays although after re-reading your post you may well avoid it as you're flting from Dublin

Ok. Dont panic. I had a week in Sauze last March, and there was 30cm of snow upper being recorded. It hadnt snowed for weeks when we got there, and it was about 20c in the village. Trust me, you do start to panic then! However, at the top of the lifts, the skiing was superb. Not so good lower down, and you could not ski down the Motorway into the village, but remember there is the link to Sestriere, Claviere, Cesana and Montgenevre, and trust me - there is absolutely tons of snow over there.
I have seen Sauze on webcam this morning, and the village has a covering of snow. That means the slopes will be fine. The official resort info is typically rubbish in Italy, but lifts are open and skiing is happening. I am going there 24th Feb, as it seems to be a resort which is better later in the season by tradition.

Going on 6th Jan you will be fine. The temps are so cold right now that what snow there is (and I am told 130cm upper 50cm lower) isnt going anywhere. Its about minus 20 overnight!!!!!

Its been bitterly cold at the top this past couple of weeks, and there has been more snow, with a heavy fall over this coming weekend. There is snow in the village too, which is a good sign. Mind you, the buses struggle to get up the hill when theres been fresh snow, so have a few drinks at the airport before you leave for Sauze!!!!

The forecast is for a rise in temps lower down, but still really cold at the top, and i am talking minus 20 with a windchill of another 7 or 8 degrees!

Wrap up, and enjoy!!! Make sure you have lunch in the Roca Nere in Sportinia, and say hi to the lovely people in there.

The snow over there is excellent right now and the guys over there really know how to look after the stuff.

I was there in March with TonyH and although we had no new snow and it was fairly warm at times they still managed to use the snow cannons and every morning the pistes were groomed to perfection.

(It was absolutely belting down on the morning of our departure however. Thanks.)
