That's awful
It's terrible when you hear things like that. And I really hope it wasn't because he was ill. You can't help thinking that if he'd stayed home he'd still be alive, but unfortunately you can't change what's already happened.
I do feel very sorry for all his friends and family

That's a real bummer Snapzzz, very sorry to hear it. Did you know him well?
Condolences and prayers to his family and friends.

No not really.
Virgin Media have in house techs, like me and a permenent contract partner that handle a lot of installation work.
We all operate out of the same site and to joe blogs we all look the same, wear same uniform and drive the same vans. But to insiders it's very much a "them and us" situation
He worked for them so was not part of my immediate family. But having worked on that side of the fence I do know the immense pressure they are under to work and work hard.
It would not suprise me if it was a "turn in for work or don't come back" situation. And that leaves me feeling sick at the thought of a genuinely ill guy loosing it behind the wheel.
Apparently he hit a parked truck that was in a lay-by at 70mph, the vans have trackers and show no attempt to brake at all.
The local news just showed photographs of the scene and the cab of the van is just gone...

Ah well ........
The plan .....
Pleasant supper, walk dog, settle in front of TV to watch the film Ides of March.
But all gone to pot !!!
Favourite lout appears from college in back of some strangers van with bike in pieces.
Arm distinctly odd shape.
Wife and favourite lout of to A&E @ 4.30.
Me at home waiting for updates ......
Upshot - arm bust (well that was obvious), Registrar had a fiddle callled in boss, who had a look and a fiddle and decided to operate to fix it. Prepping for that when they lost the anaesthetist to someone more critical so the lad is being kept in and chopped up tomorrow.
Oh ....
He did like the gas and air
So they are settling him in and I hope OH gets home safely now.
Poor little bugger (euphanism - 6'5" and 17yo), he had quite a good Easter hols planned which is all blown to pieces now.

Oh dear.. things do 'happen' to 17 year old boys though. Silver lining - he will mend quick.

Yep - he'll be fine.
Haven't inspected the bike yet
Do wonder if he will calm down on his bike (push bike this is) after this - he is mental. Amazingly he was told off by the fuzz for speeding!!
His worst nightmare will now happen - having to go to college on the bus, with all the screaming 12 year olds etc.
