Hi tony my wife and i are just back from val Thorens, the ski area is just what your looking for. It's possible to ski about 600km of runs with a 3 vallees pass. 34 black 118red 135 blue 49 green. The town's not much to look at but who cares. 5 euros for a pint of stella, we found a great resturant with a specials board where the locals had diner/lunch, 12.50 euros for three good courses. you can ski to meribel then courchavel and ski the three valleys in a day. Hope this helps
Craig.

Very kind of you, but I dont want to do the 3 valleys, and I went to VT 8 years ago and learned to ski there. Its not somewhere I would return to, unless there was a ridiculously good last minute deal.

OK, so I have been boxed into a corner by Rocketski, who I have a holiday in hand with. They have pulled out of the 3 resorts I asked them to look at for next season, and basically now only go to France and only really want to cater for school groups.
However, they have some availability for next season for just the 2 of us.
Bearing in mind I am going to Alpe d'Huez in January, and am looking to make this 2nd trip early March, here are the options:

Les Deux Alpes - tatty looking aparthotel in a resort I have never really fancied
Serre Chevalier - nice looking catered chalet. I went to SC this March and loved the ski area.
Les Seybelles/Le Corbier - somewhere I have been hearing about, but reports are of an antiquated lift system. Supposed to be queue free and quiet on the slopes though which suits me.

Any views on the 3 choices available? I know about Serre Che as a destination, but any views on L2A and Les Seybelles would be welcomed.

Thanks

I went to L2A some years ago. My memories are of a town rather than a village, strung out along a main street with lots of walking involved. The slopes layout is unusual in that the steeper slopes seem to be nearest the resort. While I was there, the snow cover was poor and one side of the skiing was completely closed, only the glacier side was open. There is plenty of skiing there, and the possibility to take a day in La Grave if you hire a guide.

I also remember the apartment as being the smallest we had ever encountered at 12sqm for 2. I have not been back.

I have heard similar stories. Which is why I had kind of narrowed it down to Serre Che (again) or Les Seybelles. I have never come across anyone who has skied there.
