I will opt for the tunnel as well. It is a quicker crossing, usually less faffing about when you check in, and in most cases (heavy snow this year being an exception) it is not affected by the weather.

Thanks Daved :D
I should think the prices for the ferry and the Eurotunnel will probably be pretty similar in January, but it is a bit annoying that they can't be booked yet.

And now that we're on a new page I'd just like to remind everyone that we still have places on this J2Ski group holiday to Tignes on 13th January next year. The details are on the first page of this thread.

Would anyone who is interested in coming on this holiday with us please let me know either by pm or posting on this thread. After 1st May the chalet owners will start letting the surplus rooms to other guests.

Thanks,

Ally

Well waddayaknow.... tickets now available to book for our dates.

Prices are either £55 or £71 each way depending on the time you travel. Flexiplus tickets are more expensive but I have never found a need to book one of those, as we have always managed to get on whatever train was there when we arrived. I know you cannot guarantee this, so we try to get there a bit early and sneak on an earlier train, with the fall back position of our booked one if this fails.

Thanks Felthorpe :D

Do the prices go up, like flights, or do they stay the same?

I don't really know but I expect like everything else, if there is a demand, the price will go up.

I have booked now just to be safe and it cost £126 return.

For what it's worth, I went to Germany in early December last year for 4 days. I booked the Eurotunnel in mid October and the trip was £108 return.
