Ian,
So now you suggest I may not be correct
Be patient and chill
My friends are doing all the footwork with this, e-mails etc and talking to credit card company.
Im merely asking for advice & opinions, from you guys, on their behalf (all greatly appreciated)
I think its only reasonable for them to get some facts established first and some feedback before naming and shaming

Perhaps you should have held back on the thread, it seems to me that you seem quite aware of how to tackle the issue, I have also not suggested that any thing you have said is incorrect, how would I know !!, I'm just struggling to undersatand why your hesitation on talking about the apartments or TO ??
Airport Transfer........ http://www.iwtravelsolutions.co.uk Transfers to all U.K airports
I surrender , had enough.
Johntin,
I wouldn't name the people either. I see that you were sharing your experience and were not looking to name and shame.
We are renting an apartment privately next month and i wouldn't name the person who I'm renting it from either.
It may get sorted amicably, and you'll be happy.
It may be bad for their future business
Or it may make them more awkward.

I for one appreciate your post though, it has made me more aware of the possible downfalls and I will email him how he expects the apartment to be left.

Dids.
Dids,
Thankyou.

Johntin,
Please don't give up on us. I want to know the outcome of this. Maybe it's something as simple as they had the wrong room number?

Don't worry about Ian. He just hates getting ripped off - he has a real thing about it. It makes him see red and then he refuses to ever fly/stay or whatever with the culprit.

Lots of us rent self-catering accommodation in France, and it would be nice to know our legal position on this issue.

Johntin,
Also going to Grand Massif (Samoens though, not Flaine) Was it good while you were there?

AllyG,
As sugessted, freinds been in touch with card company, been very helpful. At the moment waiting for reply from apartments after having sent another two e-mails, Manager has now replied saying, " that Wiatress who checked room is away at present, will talk to her when she returns" this week some time.
Dids1,
First time we have skied in France (always done HB in Austria) five in party, three with two years skiing experience. My son (17) and I decent intermediates, snow conditions varied from rain at beginning too whiteouts at end and good conditions in between, little icy in places. friends found greens good but boring, eventually went on to blues a little testing for them. IMO some were more like reds. Son & I mostly skied blues and reds in Flaine bowl ,great for confidence building. Did get very busy at times. overall v good.
