Arrived home an hour ago, from Soldeu. All I can say is that we all (9 of us) had an absolutely fab time. The skiing was excellent (baring in mind that all the resorts are linked now and it has been a record start to the season as far as the snow is concerned). The apres ski was brilliant...my OH ended up playing sax with the ski instructors bands on a couple of nights. The locals are friendly and NYE was fantastic. We were all very drunk and dancing until the early hours.

Soldeu is much prettier than Pas but not the prettiest compared to other resorts I've visited. I wouldn't recommend this resort to advanced/expert thrill seekers but for intermediates is fab.

The Bruxelles was where we stayed...rooms very basic but warm and very clean. Evening meals were excellent but breakfast was toast, cereals and coissant only. The hotel is a five minute walk to the gondola but it's uphill and a killer if you are in ski boots and hungover! My advise if you are going to stay there is hire a ski locker, there are plenty in the gondola station.

All in all we have just had one of our best ski holidays so far and we have had many to compare. thumbs up from me for Soldeu!!!

Thanks alot for that review, much appreciated, i was a bit suspect of the Bruxelles but since you have only come from there (and its about what i expect) its a bit easier to make up my mind now.

Did you have to pay for coffee and tea in the morning?
Hi nanz,

No you don't have to pay for the coffee and tea in the morning. Like I said the breakfast is a bit boring if you are a 'full english' lover like me, but the evening meals are fab. Three courses every night! If you don't like what's on offer you can choose something else for a small cost. We ate in the hotel every night apart from two nights and that was because we had drunk too much too early. In Soldeu the spirit measures are very very generous!

there are radiators in the rooms to put wet stuff on if necessary. I only needed to when i had washed something.

Thanks heaps for that info snowb4ndit, you have been most helpful!
I also stayed at the Hotel Bruxelles and will agree with snowb4ndit that the rooms whilst basic are clean and in my opinion more than adequate for a ski holiday - how much time do you really spend in there especially when there is great apres ski!!

The breakfasts do leave a lot to be desired but the evening meals more than make up for it.

I personally would tell you to get it booked and you won't regret it at all. That one holiday has changed a whole lot of things for me as it made me realise I wanted more from my life than sitting behind a desk and later this week I fly out to Canada to become a ski instructor...
I want to be a ski bum for the rest of my life

people who think they know everything are a great annoyance to those of us who do
Snowb4ndit- Glad you had a brilliant time in Soldeu. And your OH got a go on Johnny Hume's sax - Brilliant.
I'm heading out on 7th February to see all my Shambles buddies. Hope conditions stay good!!
