Sounds great. A bit like a summer holiday in Lloret de Mar, I imagine?

Well I havent been to Bansko, so I cant really comment. But from what everyone I know has said, they would not go back and its a cess pit.

Cess pit is a bit harsh, nice town, good skiing, nice people, just needs the infrastructure to catch up a bit.
wake up........

You're right, cess pit is a little harsh. I still wouldnt go there, unless it was stupid cheap compared to everywhere else, which it isnt anymore.

Don't forget that Bansko is one of the places where you could have a nice ski holiday at reasonable prices, and use quite modern ski facilities at the same time.
Lots of people are satisfied, and come back again, and again.

Not going to get sucked into the "My place is better than yours" debate but I will add this.

I haven't been to Bansko or Borovets but I have been to Pamporovo (2001) and my experiance was of gentle people trying hard to provide a happy experiance for guests. Some of the skiing was novice but some was quite challenging however the overall experiance was a good one.

What has happened in the last 7 yrs I don't know and probably shouldn't guess but my memories are sweet

Jan, I was in Pamporovo in the mid 80's. The food was a bit variable, but it was mostly old fashioned good wholesome stuff, for example my chicken soup had chicken bones in it The tuition was great, and the hire kit was very good. I was quite surprised at the steepness of the terrain and also remember the resort staff being genuine and hard working. The funniest event was trying to change money.....legally!. The change bureau was never open, so I did a deal with the chef of the restaurant round the back of the kitchens....you want Lev's...I have Lev's....
Seemed reasonable, he wanted sterling, and at least he wiped his hands before handing over the money )

I imagine Bansko to be a modern resort!
