I can also recommend Hotel Alpina. Very close to Brevent lifts and off peak season not very expensive.

Hotel Le Chamonix and Le Crete Blanche are great little 2 stars, very reasonable price if you just want sleep and a hot shower.
Remember that Chamonix buses run on a timetable http://www.chamonix-bus. You only need to wait if you cannot read this. Find out closest bus stop and try to catch an early one.
Book a guide and do Valee Blanche.
If you see someone limping around resort that will be me - ACL (just broke in Canada).

All ... Thank you again for all your help. I booked 6 days at Le Chamonix Hotel and will spend my last night in Geneva as I have a relatively early flight the next day. Thank you to everyone for helping me make up my mind and giving me useful advice.
Ranchero mentioned booking a guide and doing Valee Blanche. Is this typically expensive? I am a pretty good skier and can ski most double blacks in the US but am certainly not "team extreme". With the weather warming up, I am also not looking to push off-pieste skiing too much (this may be irrational as I dont really know). Anyways, thanks again and will try and post some pics when I return!

Definitely aim to do the Vallee Blanche, the scenery is remarkable. You will need a Guide, as their expertise in picking a route down the Glacier's crevasses is essential for a tourist. The Classic Route is not technically difficult, and it's around 22km.
You can keep costs down by joining a group, which the Guides companies will assemble. The Guide will supply safety equipment.
Don't forget your camera!
Glad you got your Hotel sorted, hope you have a blast 8)
