Lyons to Tignes/Val d'Isere/Les Arcs etc can be a good deal more than 4.5 hours at the wrong time of year ( being Feb school holidays ) - which is not November so 2 to 2.5 should be ample time.

Chambery is closer, probably 1.5 hours but I have not driven it, whereas I have driven and been driven the Lyons route many times. Geneva is also an option for you, this should be no more than 3 hours in November.

Time to drive to Tignes from Lyons-probably about 2.5-3 hours. There are flights to Chambery which get you about an hour closer, but I'm not sure how many airlines go there apart from charter flights for package holidays.
Happy travels!

Will there be snow in the Italian resorts by 16th December? Will they be fully open? Magic 8 ball said 'Ask again later' and i killed it.

Snow snow, i love snow, snow snow, i love snow. You're just frozen water but i love you so, snow.
