Graeme Hocking wrote:I would definitely go for Selva which has a range of half board accomodation options for you to choose from. From here you can access the Sella Ronda, Corvara/Colfosco, Canazei, Seceda, Alpe di Siusi, Alba and more. The ski schools are excellent if you need them and the apres ski varied. Everything for everybody!!

Thanks Graeme,

It does look like it is going to be Selva :!:

Hi,

I read on italian website Dolomiti that new 3-stage gondola link between Madonna Di Campiglio and Pinzolo is due to open this Christmas
Do you think it is going to happen?
If so would this skiing area become one of the best in Italy?

Cheers,

No. I'm not keen on paying £20 to have gravel thrown in my eye.

We have stayed in Madonna during the Hapsburg Festival which I think was the first week of March so we had a torchlit descent by various people in various costumes including crinolines for the ladies! This was followed by a fantastic firework display. I can't actually remember any live entertainment as we came off the slopes but we enjoyed sitting outside the Swiss Bar watching the world go by - I think the Italians call it passagieri? - a few ladies in fur coats with matching little dogs tucked under their arms :D
We really do like that area of the Dolomites though, especially Folgarida and Marilleva which are liked to Madonna.
