Venere posted Apr-2014

Hi guys,

I'm coming on April 12 to Austria. Narrowed down to 3 resorts based on the best snow conditions + snow forecast, but not sure yet where are the best conditions. Would love to hear your opinion.

I'm somewhere in between intermediate to advanced level.

Thanks for your help! :D

So basically it's going to be raining in all 3 resorts over the next few days, except right at the top?
I think I'd go for the highest resort, Solden, and you could always get a joint lift pass and ski in Obergurgl as well.
But having said that, I haven't skied in any of those 3 resorts, only in Obergurgl, and I may well be totally wrong!

Best of luck with making this difficult decision, and I hope you get some good ski-ing (assuming you're a skier and not a boarder) whichever one you go to ...

If it were me, I'd opt for Solden of the three and stay in Zwieselstein, half-way to Obergurgl. I wouldn't buy a week pass (there is no shared pass, as such) and pick and choose each day between S and O depending on best conditions, weather etc.

You're quite right LOTA, you only get one day in the other resort with the 'shared' lift pass. It wouldn't be any good if Venere was thinking of spending half their time in each resort.

I only know about it because some people staying in the hotel with us in Obergurgl did this and one day they took the bus to Solden and skied there. It cost slightly more than the lift pass for Obergurgl alone, but nothing much.

I wouldn't choose any of these on that date. I would go to Obergurgl or Hochgurgl. I have been twice to Solden, and you spend a lot of time getting across to the glaciers, so would not plan to go again.

As stated you can pay €10 extra and go to Solden for one day on an Obergurgl lift pass.
