I have been travelling to sauze d'Oulx for the last 10 years, and this year the conditions are excellent. Anyone on their way there are in for a great time. Thanks to such good conditions and a late easter the lifts will actually be open until 21st April 2014

Locals have told me that it has almost snowed for a day or 2 every week since the start of the season. in fact we had a great time, sunshine for 2 days, snow for 2 days and fresh powder for 2 days that is just a great mix.

Most of the apres ski info on the resort page is outdated, so I thought I could help out here. These are only my personal opinions from first hand experience, Many others do exist too.
Bars with live music : Miravallino, Il Lampione, Osteria Vaggabondi, Paddy's
Late night bar : Cotton Club, Schuss (disco)
Wine bars : Il Lampione, Seggiovia,
Best Italian style aperitivo bar : Assietta (not to be missed around 18.45 to 19.45 especially Satrurday
Reasonable food : Paddy's, Sugo's(best pasta), La Griglia (best pizza)
Nice night out : L'ortiche, Assietta Stube (try the chingiale, wild boar steak, Il cantun (reservation only) Orta del Frate (fondue&typical food, Old Inn (check out the size of the steaks)
mountain restaurants sauze side : Ciao Pais (for the ultimate Italian experience, Orso Bianco, Rocce Nere, Capanna Kind
Wellness centre : La Torre (small swimming pool too)Besson Hotel (great view)
Ski Hire : book with SkiInItaly. info at SkiInItaly dot com
Money savers: As above save up to Euro 60.00 per person for a 6 days pass/ski hire and ski school.
Happy Hour : all over, different times or special promotions like loyalty cards
Ski away day: well worth a visit to Montgenevre, if you have your own car hire Val Thorens via Frejus tuneel to Orelle to link to the 3 valleys
In resort info : sauze d'Oulx tourist office, SkiInItaly.com
ski schools; sauze sportinia, sauze vialattea, sauze project (great programme for disabled skiing sponsored by BMW) snowboard Max.
Best ski area: Genevris (button lift open on weekends) San Sicario ladies black downhill, Sestrieres Mens black downhill, Sauze d'Oulx piste 16, grande pista, 12 down to jouvenceaux, Sena Lunga very picturesque.
Best time to visit: after 06 January to end January (low season)after mid term to April
busiest time to visit: from 26 Dec to 06 Jan, 2 weeks mid term Feb and Carnival weekend.

Wishing you all a great time in Sauze d'Oulx......HAPPY SKIING

Il Lampione - can't believe that's still going. Remember, kind of, getting in a pickle on Harvey Wallbangers in there in about 1975 or 1976!!!

I've been to Sauze twice when its been hot and sunny. Great place. But the lower slopes will be awful and you will probably have to take the lifts back down to town.

Been twice (In April oddly enough) the first time you could ski right back into Sauze although slushy as you'd expect at that time of year. The second time it was 20 degrees and the lower slope down to the Clotes lift had closed.

I probably wouldn't go in April by choice again but a glance at the webcams shows lots of snow low down now.

For ever the optimist as usual.

Snapzzz - i was there this exact week last year. We managed to ski to the bottom every day and there was less snow than there was this year. And warmer.

Take the shades 8)

Paddys is a great place - I will be in there on Saturday watching Ireland beat Italy and Sunday watching England v Wales :)
