Anyone in or been to Westendorf / Ski Welt ??

Heading there (many of group considering cancelling !!) on Sunday next. Just wondering how bad is it .... can you ski to town, webcams look like it's terrible, HELP :cry:

I think there are some J2Skiers in the area at the moment so hopefully they can report it... does look like things are going to improve a little though.

Temperatures look likely to drop considerably by the weekend - with a good possibility of at least a little snow then too; keep an eye on the forecast and don't give up hope (yet)!

HI! Just back from there this weekend. The skiing was great! Didn't get to Westendorf but it looked ok at the top and everyone we asked said it was good to ski there. What you have to remember is that whilst the villages may be low but the best skiing is all done at the top where I found conditions superb. In particular Ellmau and Sheffau and Going were really good. I don't ever venture off piste so can't comment on those conditions. There was snow Tuesday and Wednesday and low temps at night. The piste management in the ski welt is absolutely amazing. I've been skiing there a number of years and to be honest the only time you realise that the depths aren't as high as previous years is when you fall- its a bit harder. We had an absolutely fantastic time and I hope you do too.

Thanks for the info....We had an emergency Board ( :lol: ) meeting today, and still have a few doubters, but majority are getting on the plane, life's too dam short so I'm off. None of us downhill racers or off-pisters,either (pisteheads morelike :wink: ) so we'll enjoy ourselves. Will report back !!

Skied in Scheffau and Ellmau last thursday and conditions were surprisingly good especially up top but even at lower levels it was skiable.With the recent new snow in last 24 hours, I would think the skiing will be very good.

It's snowing there at the moment and keeping an eye on the area as we have just decided to stay in Kirchberg in the middle of March for 5 days.

Stayed in Westendorf 3 years ago and the snow wasn't great but they manage the pistes really well and make snow like made and move about what they have to keep.

Westendorf is a great base to go over towards Soll or Kitz and you have to experience Gerry's Bar for Apres

Good call... but the forecast is firming up nicely. Just teasing the limits of the reliable time-frame now but looking like 30cm+ is a good possibility, starting Friday. Likely to be below average temperatures from the weekend onward too. :thumbup:
