Hi-
First time to Dolomites, and looking for a little guidance on resort home-base. Wife (skier) and I (snowboarder) will be up there for 3 days in Feb. We are both intermediate riders or better, and can basically get down anything. I will be looking for more fresh pow rather than groomers, freeride, etc.
I think i have it down to Cortina or Corvara (alta badia), both look really good with similar costs in hotels. We are not looking to party our faces off all night, but a few apre-beers would be appreciated.
We will be taking the bus up from Venice, and we will not have a hire car.
Any help appreciated!

The village San Cassiano seems to be fab and my coaching ski group is going back for the third year running.

@boardbiker Where are you guys staying at? We will only be up there for a few days but I am really fired up to see the area. PM me if you want to swap info, always fun to ride with a crew.

There is the whole J2ski group there Feb 2-9 and I'm in Campitello the week before..I've never been before either so I'm making up for it this year

The J2Ski group is now 20 strong, so if anyone wants to hook up with us, they are more than welcome.
We usually break up into smaller groups (because 20 is just too many in one go and we have a range of abilities in the group) so we go off to do a variety of things with coffee stops or lunch to meet up during the day.
Any more J2Skiers who happen to be in the area will be welcome to come and say hello and join in if you want.

Wow thats great, is there a separate thread for this group in Feb? I'm still in the air on where to stay, my eyes are going bloodshot from too much review-reading.
I can't really tell how close things are, so its more a matter of what town is accessible via the express bus from Venice. And of course quality snow.
So far home base options are Cortina, Corvara, or Arraba.
