Hi there,
I was thinking to pass a few days in Portes du Soleil, however, I'm not understanding how easy it is to take advantage of this massive ski resort.
First of all, which village should I stay that is better connected to more ski lifts?
Then, from this village can I simply ski+lifts the entire resort or I would need to drive from one village to the other?

It is basically progression of interconnected resorts when I was there I found it was easier to start at the area you wanted to ski at and work back from there i think you need transport to do it properly...but you're not going to do it in a few days

Agree with Daved I was in Chatel for a week did not get to Switzerland or to Morzine, well we did plan to do Morzine on the last day but wind and snow closed some of the connections so had to stay local …. :thumbup:

Did a 30 odd mile circuit around PDS on 1 day of a short trip, based in Morzine.
Took the super morzine up to Avoriaz and then took in Chatel, Morgin and a couple of other villages I can't recall right now.
Apart from having to walk across the road in Morgin and a short bus ride in Chatel I think, the rest is all lift linked with loads of varied high terrain.
Going back for another short trip at the beginning of Feb
Chickened out of the Swiss Wall as the entry wasn't looking great for me, though 1 guy did it whilst we had a coffee stop at the top.
Took the super morzine up to Avoriaz and then took in Chatel, Morgin and a couple of other villages I can't recall right now.

As hinted at above, the PDS is more a single lift pass covering a number of resorts, some of which are well connected and some less so.
Morzine, snow permitting, allows access to Les Gets and Avoriaz. Avoriaz gives access to Morzine, Chatel, & Les Crosets.
Check out a piste map for a better idea of how resorts are / aren't linked.
It's not linked up in the same way as the 3 valleys or Espace Killy though.

Didn't find any issue's with lifts between Chatel and the top of Morzine …...

Hi, we always stay in Morzine as it gives a good central base to explore the area. You can then use the Super Morzine to access Avoriaz and do a circuit through Les Crosets,Champery,Morgins and Chatel. Or the Pleney to the Les Gets area. The whole Portes du Soleil area is connected by lifts,buses and Noddy Trains.

I have never had an issue with getting around. Have stayed in Morzine and Avoriaz in the last two years (Les Gets and Les crosets next season) so know the area well and have skied almost every area.
