Thinking of booking a place around May 10th. All the website say that skiing is still good at that time but I'm a little afraid, by the way coming from USA. This trip is to go visit family that lives in Vienna so it's just not a skiing trip. Anybody from Austria....could you set my mind at ease and tell me if I book will there be a chance for me to not ski/snowboard at Hintertux glacier :?:

Thanks

Hi

As fas as I am aware the Hintertux is skiable pretty well all year round; whether lifts are working 365 days I don't know. It can be a bit bleak though. You realise, of course, it's quite a long way from Vienna !

Yes its open pretty much all year and there will be skiing to do there in May.
I'd recommend staying in Finkenburg, Mayrhofen or Lanersbach and driving/bussing to Hintertux

Thank you for the quick response. I was looking at this hotel www.hintertuxerhof.at have you ever been there? By the way I know it's not close to Vienna (5 hours?) but I live in America and here if you don't drive at least 45 minutes you go nowhere :) so i'm used to long drives.

Please if you have more information share with me.

Thanks

If you stay at hintertuxhof you are near the tux and can always get on a bus to mayrohofen for a bit more of a lively time. Check out forecasts for snow and ski conditions on website as it can get pretty warm even from end of march
