Tignes, Val Claret (up near the Funiculaire)
Hi all again.
I'm off to Tignes, Val Claret (up near the Funiculaire)1st week Dec so hope the snow is there. It is a glacier so there will be skiing of sorts. Driving there so does anyone know of any issues when driving to the resort? experiences from Lyon on I suppose. Anyone else going who would like a lift? Driving from bordeaux.

Your only possible issue will be inclement weather - be prepared in case it dumps down!
Snow dance !!! my snow dance on youtube
As OA states only real issue you may face is the weather.
Do not forget to go prepared, ideally with winter tyres, but also with chains, as if the weather turns, the local powers that be can enforce you to fit them. Tignes is pretty easy to get to, decent road all the way to Bourg St Maurice, then the road beyond is better than most for a resort run. Follow the signs to Val D'Isere, and turn off at the Dam for Tignes.

Have driven from both Chambery and Turin. It's really easy to get too, but as the others have said the weather will play it's part.
First time was fine, didn't need snow tyres or chains. Second time was OK, but we had to put the chains on to get around Val Claret. There's a few small, steep hills in the town, and you'll definitely get stuck without at least snow tyres if they've had a decent dump of snow in the week.
We're driving door to door this time, should be good fun.
