Snowboarding in Zermatt
I am going to be visiting Italy/Switzerland during the last 2 weeks of october. I am planning on going into Zermatt from Torino. I was hoping to be able to snowboard for a day or two in Zermatt. Is it possible to snowboard at the end of oct? How easy is it to rent a board and boots?

You should be able to rent equipment in a village.

Don't under any circumstances leave the marked runs. There a lots of crevasses that are only covered by a thin layer snow at that time of year. Only a few weeks ago a lone boarder fell in one, he was reported missing when he didn't return the board to the hire shop. Because of the bad weather it took rescue service a while to find and recover his body. http://www.thelocal.ch/page/view/3727

Zermatt is open all year round, except for bad weather. There should be plenty of places to rent stuff. As said by SwingBeep be really careful with going off-piste, glaciers are quite dangerous off-season outside of the marked slopes
