Hi folks,

I am a circa 42" chest and my North Face ski jacket with zip in liner (size medium) fits a treat as do a few other TNF medium fleece jackets and shells I have.

Now I am looking for a Spyder ski jacket, local stores had medium and large in the Bromont so I tried them on to find both too small!

Does anyone know how the sizes compare, is a TNF medium equal to an XL in Spyder?

Thanks,
Andy

Hi Woodpecker, welcome to the forum.

For what it's worth, from my personal experience of trying on Spyder jackets, they all come up in differing sizes of being smaller than they are supposed to be.

According to their website size guide, I should be a XXL, but I have yet to find a jacket which fits me

They have recently started to make stuff in XXXL, but I have never seen this size in a shop and given their inaccurate sizes in other options I am not prepared to mail order.

Best advice I can give you is to keep looking for what you want, and try to find somewhere where it is stocked in several sizes so you can try it before you buy it.

Thanks for the replies, I couldn't find anywhere local with an XL so may have to mail order, although the Bromont didn't fit I am looking at the Rival jacket but have no idea on sizing, maybe I'll just have to mail order the XL and try it.

My son (13) tried on a small adult jacket and that barely fitted him.

Hi Woodpecker: welcome to the forum!

From my experience with TNF, I'd say the accuracy of their sizing differs for various models. I bought a dawn-filled medium which fit just right, and a softshell which was a bit tight. One thing that I like about TNF jackets [besides really good quality] is that their sleeves are long enough (I usually have a problem with this, because I wear medium but I am tall, so many jackets' sleeves are too short for me even if otherwise fitting well)

You may try to even contact the manufacturer and ask for exact measurements: I called TNF once and they were pretty helpful.

Oh no! I just realized that the question was about Spyder jackets, and my reply gave details about TNF.

Sorry for that Woodpecker: I never wore/bought any Spyder stuff. But who knows, maybe they have good customer service as well and you can call [or email a question] about the exact measurements of the particular jacket you want to buy.

Good luck!

I find that Spyder and Descente clothing run a on a small side. Definitely much smaller than TNF.
