We are a group of 12. Most went skiing for the first time in March 2011 at Alpe D'Huez. We want to head somewhere in the 1st week of Jan 2013, where there will be plenty of snow (things started thawing out a bit in march. Still on green and blue slopes, edging onto red by the end of our trip, but some on the black slopes. Also looking for: good ski village with fun things to do and a catered chalet to stay in. I would welcome any recommendations!
Thanks

Tony,
I don't think Camelthief minds much, as long as it's a lovely place with great ski-ing :D

If you are flexible on the dates, have you looked at the J2Ski holiday that AllyG has organised for 13 January? There is a separate thread on it.
We are off to Tignes to a catered chalet. It may suit your purposes?

Thanks Felthorpe. Can't do the 13th Jan - kids are back to school then. (we're in South Africa) Keen to hear more re the chalet you're off to. We're flexible on where we go.

Hi Camelthief,
I'm afraid the chalet we're going to is booked up for the first 2 weeks of January.
But Bonjour do have 2 other chalets in Tignes Les Brevieres - you could try contacting them and asking if they are available. Their phone number is 01765 677787 (UK phone number).

I assume this in the Austria forum for a reason.....
....if so, I'd recommend looking to stop in Lech or Zurs, some fantastic mixed ability skiing, quite quiet on the slopes with St Anton round the corner on the same lift pass, and some really chalets there as well.
Have a look at www.catered-ski-chalets.co.uk
Alternatively, I've been to Mayrhofen lots of times and its definitely a fun town with plenty going on, but no skiing back to accommodation unfortunately.
