 Snow Forecast Summary - 9th February 2012

This past week has seen deep cold right across Europe, keeping the snow and slopes in great condition throughout The Alps and Scandinavia. Heavy snows have come to the South of the region this week, with the Pyrenees doing particularly well.

In North America there has been a little new snow, although some Colorado ski areas have reported significant fresh snow.

European Weather and Snow This Coming Week

Although the past 24 hours have seen temperatures moderate across The Alps, very cold weather is set to return over the next 48 hours and temperatures will return to seriously cold (between -10C and -25C) for a few days. Temperatures will then rise gradually over the next week, with prevailing weather being generally clear and cool.

Once again, be aware of the risk of frostbite over the next few days. Take extra layers, minimise exposed skin, use protective cream, stay hydrated and take regular breaks.

The cold and dry looks like it might give way to snowier weather from around the middle of next week, but that's a little far out in the forecast to be sure at this point.

Keep warm and carry on!
