But of course it's not how you use the pavement with your careful walking on rubber soled feet, avoiding the cracks just in case they're unlucky. It's that mad pavement jockey that comes up fast behind you on his irresponsible leather soles, that makes the wearing of a helmet sensible in the circumstances.

How do you know?
No pavements in your part of the world.

Bandit, you just got me looking back to see when I got my first helmet. It was after a near miss in Alpe D'Huez in 2002!
About time I got a flashy new one... Something to make my new skis...

I once was forced off a run by a complete novice (for this novice read idiot) and crashed into a rockface using my face as protection for my skull! First thing I did after the blood had stopped flowing from my nose was ski straight down to a ski shop and buy a helmet with a chin guard. I just didn't fancy ever using my face, nose, mouth, teeth or head as a means of stopping ever again. Not one regret as it has saved the aforementioned more than once now.

I have worn a ski helmet since my first ski holiday when I nearly killed myself and will not ski without one now.
Just my personal choice, I couldnt care less if other people wear them or not.
When in doubt?....Flat out.
