After my usual gaze at the Saalbach webcams this morning, I was amazed to see how quick the snow is still melting down in the village. Yesterday it was all white, today it's nearly all green again.
Just goes to show how the ground temp must still be quite warm.

Yeah, but i would imagine its cooling down rather rapidly at the moment!!
I would have thought that some lucky locals have hiked up the mountains to get their first turns of the year, in good powder as well!!
Why cant we have mountains and lots of decent snow here... :( lol

Perhaps we should be thinking outside of the box - If we can't have big mountains then lets dig a big hole! 1500m deep should do the trick. That just leaves the snow to sort out. We're halfway there :mrgreen:bennyboy wrote:Why cant we have mountains and lots of decent snow here... lol

Schladming-Dachstein opened a month early!!!!! Not just on the glacier, on Planai mountain as well.
This has to be a good sign!! For a resort that was struggling last year with its low altitude, to having some runs open on their winter ski mountain, thats awesome.. and its only Oct!!
