Have been the first week in March twice - the first time, even the nursery slopes in resort had fantastic conditions. The second time, whilst the very lower slopes did suffer a little, from the Cretes pistes upwards (you'll spot these if you take a look at the piste map), the conditions were still superb.

As it's a glacier resort, and there's still skiing to be had in the summer, it's as safe a bet as you can take when it comes to there being snow. Rest assured, I would go again early March without hesitation.

Well i have gone ahead and booked it. we were gong to wait till the last minute but with this being a glacier resort i decided to go ahead so fingers crossed for a few more top ups. not only for my sake but everyones. got what i thought was a fairly good deal for france in the allborg half board through neilson.

On another note can anyone recommend a decent bar for some happy hour apre ???? its all about a hard days skiing and decent apre for me. the rest is for my other half

Smokey Joes is right in the centre, live music between 5pm and 7pm I think. I also like the Polar Bear Bar, head from the centre down the main road towards the Venosc end of town, it's a few minutes walk and on the left hand side of the road.

L2A always seems to get mixed reviews but never really for the quality of the snow.
As posted it is a glacier resort and high so you won't have any issues there. I think the main complaints are about how disjointed the place is.
Most resorts have the beginners slopes at the bottom and it tends to get harder the higher you go. With L2A it is the reverse and as such some of the lifts can develop big queues in the morning.
I'd definitely go though.

I never see the queues as I'm usually at the front of them - ha ha!! I'm a realy morning person, love to be up there on the first lifts and knock off about 3pm for a gluhwein or two.

And I do think, because there are a number of ways to get "up top" the queues aren't as bad as they could be, never wait more than a few minutes even if you do have a bit of a lie-in.
That's the one advantage of going in March, lovely sunny and warm-ish weather, jacket of at lunchtime, soak up the rays...

Sorry Matt23, where are you staying? Give me a shout and I can probably give you a few tips on good bars or restaurants, best lifts up, etc
