Hiya sm4sh, I was in Soldeu in early feb 2 seasons ago (feb 2010). The snow was excellent. It had fallen quite a bit prior to us going, and we had mainly blue skies for the week we were there, with another dusting towards the end of the trip.

It was not too cold, and apart from a couple of windy days which were a bit of a nuisance right up at the top of the ski area, it was a pretty good week.

If you want to check out some crappy pics, here is a public link to my facebook album from the trip

There seems enough snow there to keep a beginner like me happy will have to see what the mrs thinks, after all ... she is the boss! (or so she thinks)

You need go mid march? Does that mean you can only travel at that time or has someone told her that's the best time to go?
I've only been to Andorra in December and the snow was terrible when most of Europe was covered and Andorra generally struggles with snow when the alps have it good which is why I haven't been either again or for a full week.
Personally I'd say mid march was one of the least preferable times to head out there and if you're determined to go to Andorra, jan or early feb would give the best chance of cold weather and best conditions I think.
I had good conditions in March this year ..but it is definitely I the lap of the gods
ok cheers, i ment she had heard March was the best time to go, but i thought that was to late and when the ski seasons end?
We are going to book up after xmas i think and try to find a cheap deal. We are just after the cheaper places at the moment and i heard Andorra was one of them.

Where are you chaps off to this year?

You'll be absolutely fine in March. Here are the average stats for the last 17 years!

The peak is the second half of Feb and first half of March.

I have been to the Grandvalira several times including Christmas, New Year and March...Always had good snow conditions and a brilliant time!
