7 of us are going over to ski in europe for 2 weeks. We are planning to go to Chamonix for one week, but are unsure where to go for the other week. If possible, it would be good to have not hugely expensive accomodation, a nice resort atmosphere and plenty for intermediates and advanced (mainly advanced). There are also two in our group who don't ski , so it would be good if there was something to do for them. Yeah long list, but hopefully something exists out there? We are used to skiing at treble cone in new zealand if that helps.

When are you planning to travel?

If you can get a deal on a catered chalet (always possible out of peak weeks) then somewhere like St.Anton can be done on a manageable budget.

If you don't need wild nightlife then maybe think about Bourg St Maurice as a base :- accommodation is cheaper as it's not in the resorts but you can access Les Arcs directly by funicular railway and a whole bunch of other resorts (Tignes, Val d'Isere, Ste.Foy, et al) with a 20-30 minute bus / taxi / car ride.

Take a look at this recent thread for some discussion of the 'classic' resorts and their pros and cons :-

thanks for your reply. We were planning to go about mid january for chamonix, then after a week there, go somewhere else. Bourg St Maurice sounds good, and so does St. Anton, but how bad is the party life there? Can manage some, but we don't want 24-7 partying. Also, can you recommend a accomodation website? Thanks
