Sleeps till ski time

This Trip is Mum and Dad only ..... her school allows you 10 days for holidays per year but you have to write them a letter, telling them that it is the only chance the family have for a holiday together.
Is Megan year six or seven as it gets a lot tuffer in high school I'm lead to believe.
The way I look at it is that I consider it part of her education she has to order her food and drink in French buy things in the shops in French and just immerse her self in the culture.
As you know for our Jan trip we do not go to Brit orientated resorts but seek out the traditional french resorts where she has a chance to see how the communities live.
Megan is year 7 and its a swine now. I am assuming your daughter is year 6 to be allowed 10 days.
When i asked to take Meg to Flaine they just said no. I was shocked as we have never had trouble before but this was a new school.
She went on to add that if we took her out of school next year they are introducing a policy of fining parents. I said "best of luck with that as only the courts and police can issue fines".
The lady then changed her words and decided it was a penalty charge rather than a fine......sounds like those parking scams doesn't it?
I also asked her if i was a day in credit because of the days strike action they took not so long back, I'm not sure she was impressed by that.
Anyway i told them that we were taking her anyway.
And then to top it all only a few days later Megan came home from school with a letter asking if we would like her to participate in a 4 day excursion to Disneyland Paris!! The bloody cheek of it. Funny how they can take her but i can't.
Snapzzz wrote:Ian, did you have any trouble with your daughters school and taking her out during term time. Megans school gave me some right grief.
We always get a snotty letter from the school and the absence is recorded as unauthorised. We go in term time evey year because that suits our business commitments. It is my decision as to how best to conduct my daughter's education, and I consider skiing as a valid educational activity for reasons too numerous to list here. No one thought about the children when they decided to go on strike. Apart from these 5-day skiing holidays, her attendance is nearly perfect. I will continue to do exactly what I please with regard to my child's education. Ski parents unite! End of rant!

Little W Is year five we have heard that high school can be more difficult still we have another year before we have to worry about stuffy high schools.
How educational disneyland paris ......
Stick with your guns and fight them off if they sent me a fine the letter would go straight back with my charges for changes in school criteria of which they are many every year

Thanks Ally just thought I would update you all on the knee ..... had some magic cream delivered
through the post which seems to have helped and with the dosage of tablets I seem to be rattling at the moment.
But it is getting easier by the day ..... it seems to be more painful when sitting, on the move it is a lot less painful so things are looking up but I think I will have to go a tad careful with it on Sunday.
And by the way .....
St Christoph ....... 1 Sleep

That would be great if you could, even if it's only to make me more green with jealousy when I hear what a great time you're having
Ian - I'm glad your knee is not so bad now - take care of yourself - and tell Tony to make his wife carry all the suitcases to spare his back for the ski-ing
