Weekly Snow Report - Thursday 31 March

Snow Forecasts

The week ahead

Hello again,

The theme of recent weeks has continued with mild weather predominating in Europe, interspersed with a few (very welcome) falls of snow at altitude. Spring skiing remains on offer above 1,500 metres, although the persistent thaw is taking its toll of lower runs.

Lower resorts will be starting to close over the next couple of weeks, but high altitude skiing will remain an option well into April and early May at resorts like Chamonix, Tignes and Zermatt.

European Weather and Snow This Coming Week

Spring will continue, with temperatures above normal for early April... but there will be a "cool snap" (with a chance of snow to 2,000 metres or lower) early next week that may give the upper slopes a light top-up. Keep an eye on the forecasts after that as there is a chance of another cold spell around a week later.

More as it happens,

Stay Safe :- Big Snow means Big Avalanche Risk - make sure you always know and understand the local avalanche risk level before you ski or snowboard off-piste, take appropriate safety equipment and never go off-piste alone.

The Snow Reports in this e-mail are for information only. Mountain Weather Systems are notoriously chaotic and any forecast beyond 48 hours is only an indication. Snow Forecasts, Snow Depths and current local Skiing Conditions change rapidly, and you should always obtain the latest, local, information before you ski.
