The week ahead

Hello...

Please excuse the length this week - lots of snow, some great competitions and some extra savings to give you in the run-up to half-term!

As you'll be aware if you watch the news, Europe has turned distinctly colder in the past few days - and we would like to highlight that as something to be prepared for if you're skiing this week or next.

Decent snow has come to the Southern Alps and Pyrenees at last, with over a metre of fresh this week. North and Eastern Alps have also seen more snow in recent days.

Across the Atlantic, Western Canada has fantastic conditions and Colorado resorts are now fully open with new snow.

European Weather and Snow This Coming Week

Pretty much the entirety of the Alpine and Scandinavian areas are going to experience very cold, clear weather for much of the next seven days; perhaps with a little snow over the weekend.

Daytime temperatures will generally be between -10C and -20C and will keep the existing snow in great condition. Although certainly cold, it will be mitigated a little by dry air and sunshine and with sensible preparation the skiing should be superb.

Take local advice, but you will need extra layers and to take particular care of your extremities! Minimise exposed areas of skin, use protective cream, stay hydrated and take regular breaks.

Our latest snow report (1 Feb) indicates snow depths of 86cm (Upper Slopes) and 66cm (Lower Slopes), with the last snowfall on 30 Jan. Okemo Mountain reported "Variable snow conditions".

Stay Safe :- Big Snow means Big Avalanche Risk - make sure you always know and understand the local avalanche risk level before you ski or snowboard off-piste, take appropriate safety equipment and never go off-piste alone.
