Weekly Snow Report - Thursday 08 March

Snow Forecasts

The week ahead

Hello again,

This past week has seen mostly settled weather with a fair amount of sunshine and generally great skiing conditions. Scattered snows have freshened up the runs on both sides of the Atlantic, and it's reported to be still snowing (albeit relatively lightly) in parts of the Austrian Alps tonight.

European Weather and Snow This Coming Week

The current settled weather is likely to continue through most of the next week, with temperatures generally around the average for the time of year. There is the possibility of a little, scattered snow as we move into next week but expect more sunshine and Spring skiing from mid-mountain down.

A quick request to UK Skiers, for a friend of ours!

J2Ski's favorite downhill racer, Chemmy Alcott, is currently competing on UK TV's Dancing on Ice. Forced to take a year out by her crash last season, Chemmy has been using the skating as rehabilitation for her broken leg. She spoke to J2Ski at length in our Interview with a Ski Racer last year.

She's since thrown herself into her skating with the same commitment that she throws herself down mountains with... and is now one of the remaining five contestants who'll be skating on Sunday. As the only winter athlete to compete, she needs our support. So kick-back on Sunday evening and cheer for Chemmy.

Vote early, vote often! We know she'll appreciate it.

Avalanche Safety

Finally, avalanches have again been making headlines this past week - and are likely to do so until the end of the season. So think twice; always take local advice before leaving marked runs, never ski alone, and ensure you and your ski buddies always carry transceivers, shovels and probes when off-piste (and know how to use them).

Stay safe and enjoy the snow,
The J2Ski Team

Stay Safe :- Big Snow means Big Avalanche Risk - make sure you always know and understand the local avalanche risk level before you ski or snowboard off-piste, take appropriate safety equipment and never go off-piste alone.

The Snow Reports in this e-mail are for information only. Mountain Weather Systems are notoriously chaotic and any forecast beyond 48 hours is only an indication. Snow Forecasts, Snow Depths and current local Skiing Conditions change rapidly, and you should always obtain the latest, local, information before you ski.
