Sugar Mountain - American Ski Resort (1250m to 1620m)
The largest ski and snowvboard area in North Carolina since opening in 1969, Sugar also operates the two longest double chair lifts in the state, one serving the longest beginner run in the region. There is a massive one-stop base lodge which houses all facilities, including over 2700 pairs of rental skis, snowboards and ski boards and the slopes are floodlit for skiing seven nights a week. The chairs include the two longest in North Carolina. Tubing was added in 1998 and the tubing park contains as many as six 700ft (200m) chutes serviced by two lifts. The tubing park is fully floodlit with snow making.
