Buttermilk - Ski Resort in American Rockies (2399m to 3018m)

Buttermilk is one of Aspen's four ski areas. Not lift-linked to the other three, it is a short drive from Aspen resort off the road to Snowmass and has a reoputation as a beginners ski area of a very high standard. However it also has little known powder stashes off its black diamond runs - often under used because Buttermilk does not have a toiugh mountain reputation to attract black diamond skiers. The area has also built up a reputastion with boarders, having a 3km (2 mile) long terrain park added in 2000.

Buttermilk

The American ski resort of Buttermilk has direct access to a total of 9 ski lifts.

The ski resort itself is above 1500m, so skiing or boarding back to the resort is usually possible. With pistes above 2500 metres, skiing and snowboarding is assured throughout the season.

Snowmaking :- Buttermilk is able to augment natural snow, with 490 Snow Cannons.

Ski Lift Capacity :- The 9 Ski Lifts of Buttermilk are able to uplift 7,500 skiers / snowboarders per hour.

There are two Airports within two hours drive, so ski weekends, snowboard breaks and short ski holidays to Buttermilk are perfectly feasible. Aspen Airport is just one hours drive away, in good driving conditions, so you can be on the piste quickly.

Snowboarding in Buttermilk

There are five terrain park and the X Games superpipe. Beginner terrain makes Buttermilk an excellent learning mountain for new snowboarders.
